Marsoft notes sharp rise in newbuilding prices
Marsoft’s latest eBriefs for the Dry and Tanker Markets have just been published. They show that in both sectors there has been a sharp rise in the newbuilding prices although rates for both sectors have continued to move in opposite directions.
Kevin Hazel observes “Three factors have contributed to the recent jump in newbuilding prices: rising shipyard capacity utilization; a weakening US dollar; and a spike in steel plate prices”
