Paul Eckbo,

Chairman

​

Paul Eckbo is the founder and Chairman of the Marsoft Group. His focus includes fundamental analysis of oil, energy and shipping markets and providing timing and portfolio advice to owners, charterers and investors, shipping and offshore related, real and financial assets and securities. Dr. Eckbo has held senior positions in academia and business and has been extensively involved in global business ventures with responsibility for business development, strategy and corporate finance.
 

Dr. Eckbo has a B.A. from the Norwegian School of Economics (Bergen) and a Ph.D. in Management from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

Arlie Sterling,

President

​Arlie Sterling is the President and co-founder of Marsoft Inc., with over four decades of experience in maritime economics and risk management. He advises shipowners, investors, and financial institutions on the development and execution of investment, chartering, and risk management strategies. He has played a key role in building Marsoft’s decision support services and now leads the firm’s decarbonization initiatives, including collaborations with MIT to model vessel performance and retrofit impacts.

​

Dr. Sterling serves on the board of the Blue Sky Maritime Coalition and is a Member of the American Bureau of Shipping.

​

He holds degrees from MIT and Northwestern University, including a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Hauke Kite-Powell,

Sr Vice President, Managing Decarbonization​

Hauke L. Kite-Powell is Senior Analyst for liquid gas shipping at Marsoft, focusing on the LNG and LPG tanker markets and trades. 

 

He holds degrees in naval architecture (B.S), technology and policy (M.S.), and ocean systems management (M.S. and Ph.D.) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. 

 

Dr. Kite-Powell also holds appointments as Research Specialist at the Marine Policy Center of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Lecturer at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

John Moulopoulos,

Sr Vice President, Decision Support

John Moulopoulos is Senior Vice President, Decision Support and joined Marsoft in 2021. His professional background includes investment banking and financial advisory work, advisory to shipping investments and ship manning services, as well as securities trading. He hails from a long standing Hellenic shipping family focused on the dry bulk and tanker segments.

 

Mr Moulopoulos holds a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering, both from the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor.

Belinda Adye,

MD Marsoft London​​

Belinda Adye is the Managing Director of Marsoft London and joined Marsoft Inc. in 1990. She is responsible for GreenScreen business development and sales.
 

Mrs. Adye has a BA Hons in French and Italian from University College London. Prior to working at Marsoft, Mrs. Adye had experience in teaching, PR and theatre.

Costas S Bardjis,

Principal Advisor, Decision Support​

Costas Bardjis is the Principal Advisor, Decision Support and joined Marsoft Inc. in 1986. He has directed numerous projects at Marsoft, with his most recent focus on the liner and containership markets and credit rating.
 

He holds a diploma in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering form the National Technical University of Athens, a M.S. in Ocean Systems Management from MIT, and has completed his studies for a Ph.D. in Corporate Strategy and Shipping Economics in the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

Ryan Uljua, CAIA 

Vice President, Market Analysis

Ryan Uljua is Vice President, Market Analysis and joined Marsoft in 2024. Before joining Marsoft, he was an investment analyst at a Boston-based quantitative hedge fund where he developed systematic commodities trading models leveraging maritime shipping data. Prior, he began his career in intelligence and geopolitical risk consulting. 

 

Mr. Uljua holds a Master’s degree in International Trade and Global Political Economy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from George Washington University. He also holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation.

Lucas Avelar is a Senior Market Analyst, focusing on the Oil Tanker Sector.

Prior to joining Marsoft in 2024, he had been an economic consultant at a Washington, D.C.-based firm, and a market researcher beforehand in New York City.

Mr. Avelar holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Rochester.

Megan Kennedy,

Senior Market Analyst

​​​Megan Kennedy is a Senior Market Analyst at Marsoft, specializing in the LPG and VLGC markets. She joined Marsoft in 2009 and brings additional experience from prior roles in coaching, teaching, and administration.

 

She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Nikolay Koumpikov,

Sr Vice President, Software and Product Development

Nikolay Koumpikov leads Marsoft's Software and Product Development. He also oversees IT security compliance and governance. He joined Marsoft in 2003, following a career as a Navigating Officer on bulkers, containerships, and multi-purpose ships.


Mr. Koumpikov holds a Master's in Electrical Engineering and Maritime Navigation from the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Bulgaria, and a Master's in Information Technology from Harvard University.

Diane Beauregard,

Controller

Diane Beauregard joined Marsoft in 2021 and is responsible for Administration, Finance and Human Resources.  She has 30+ years’ experience in the high-tech industry, with a focus in software and services, and has held positions as Revenue Manager, Internal Auditor and Group Controller.  Prior to joining Marsoft, Ms. Beauregard was the Director of Accounting/Finance and Human Resources for CST of America. 

 

She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Boston University.

Kevin Hazel,

Senior Advisor​



Kevin Hazel joined Marsoft in 1989 and is currently working as a consultant for the Dry Bulk and Tanker Markets. Prior to joining Marsoft, Mr. Hazel was an investment analyst in the financial services industry.
 

Mr. Hazel has an S.B. in Management from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and an M.A. in Economics from Boston University.
