Marine Link recently published an article by Barry Parker of bdp1 Consulting Ltd which referred to Marsoft’s comments during a recent Marine Money ‘Green Series’ webinar. He quotes Arlie Sterling who talked about the implications of Marsoft’s extensive research project with MIT, suggesting that 180,000 bulkers, tankers and containerships (typically 5-15 years of age) could be the subject of retrofits, a market that could be worth $12 to $16 billion.
