The shipping industry’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions require investments in new technology for next-generation ships and in retrofits to reduce fuel consumption in the existing fleet. While some investments pay for themselves over time in fuel savings, aggressive measures to reduce carbon emissions as quickly as technically possible often carry price tags in excess of fuel savings alone. This is where carbon credits can play an important role. Marsoft is working with owners who place a premium on accelerating decarbonization to help them gain recognition and new revenue for their efforts in the carbon offset markets.
