What's New in SCM 3.04
(00Q4: October 31, 2000)?

• Multi-collateral analysis and extended loan report

A loan can now be "collateralized" by more than one vessel. Vessels with available equity to be used as collateral for the loan being edited are listed in the collateral listbox which is displayed by clicking the "+" (plus) button. Vessels assigned as collateral can be removed by clicking the "-" (minus) button. The loan amount is assigned to the vessels in proportion to their purchase price; this assignment is done for calculating the equity contribution of each vessel.

Note
Vessels can be used as collateral for more than one loan (this capability already existed in previous versions of SCM 3.0x). In this case, all loans collateralized by a vessel are assumed to have equal seniority.

• Explicit selection of method of entering the Loan Amount

For secured loans, the user is now required to select the method by which the loan amount will be specified: a) as a ratio (advance ratio) to the price of the collateralizing vessels; b) as an amount entered directly (loan amount). In case a), the resulting amount is calculated. In case b), the resulting Advance Ratio is calculated. For unsecured loans, the only way to specify the loan amount is by directly entering it.

• Save output in Excel
SCM output can be saved in Excel format (.XLS) for most reports. Please use the command "Export As Excel file" under the "File" selection of the "Report" drop-down menu (Excel mode). A project report ("PRJ") is expor- ted as a file containing the Cash Flow & Financing Report, Loan Analysis Report, Investment Analysis Report, Summary Report (if created), GAAP Report, Custom Report (if created), and the 4 project charts: Forecast vs. Loan, Loan Cash Flows, IRR & NPV, and Breakeven Rate. A vessel or report or chart is exported as shown on screen (the vessel Fixed Age chart and TC Rate chart are exported together and include the Historical Rates & Prices table).

• Added "P/E" ratio in Vessel List report
The Price/Earnings ratio has been added in the Vessel List report for each listed vessel.

• Option to deactivate use of "Miscellaneous Interest"
The line Miscellaneous Interest in the "Cash Flow and Financing" report captures interest earned on cash balances, or interest charged for (short) term cash shortfalls. SCM does not use any Miscellaneous interest calculation if the user so desires. There are two ways to achieve this: a) for all reports created for one project, set the LIBOR Minus rate in the Project Parameters form (accessed from the toolbar in he Project Overview tab) to 100; b) for a specific report, set the "Use Miscellaneious Interest" flag to "No" in the Parameters form (accessed via the "Options/Parameters" selection in the "Report" drop-down menu (Excel mode).

• New Transaction Query Form
A new form has been implemented for querying the Transaction database. This form is accessible from the main drop-down menu and includes an additional field, "hulltype". The new form validates user input. The old query form is still accessible from the Excel "Report" drop-down menu. It has been expanded to include the "hulltype" search option also.

• Windows 2000 compatibiliy
SCM is now compatible with Windows 2000 & Excel 2000.

• Enhanced installation
The SCM installation provides additional validation of certain parameters of the computer on which the SCM is being installed. The user has the option to choose the SCM "MDAC" installation instead of the normal installation (refer to the SCM 3.04 Installation Notes).

• Miscellaneous improvements
A number of system and interface improvements have been made, including crisper toolbar icons, various bug fixes, improved error handling, improved input validation, better status update indicators when creating a long report, better form re-sizing, and the fixing of tabbing from field to field. In addition, there has been some work to improve system response time at system startup and when creating long reports. Finally, an additional "Report List" toolbar button has been added in Excel mode. This button imitates the command Windows/Report List.

• Updated User Guide
An updated User Guide & Reference covering the above enhancements as well as the enhancements done in the last two releases (versions 3.02 and 3.03) is included in electronic format on the SCM installation CD-ROM (PDF format, readable with Adobe Acrobat Reader).
