Costas Bardjis
Partner, Marsoft

Costas Bardjis is a partner and joined Marsoft in 1986. He has directed numerous projects at Marsoft, with his most recent focus on the liner and containership markets and credit rating.

He holds a diploma in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering form the National Technical University of Athens, a M.S. in Ocean Systems Management from MIT, and has completed his studies for a Ph.D. in Corporate Strategy and Shipping Economics in the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

  Gunter Dufey
Nanyang Business School

Prof. Gunter Dufey joined NBS on Sept 1, 2003 as a Professor from the University of Michigan where he is Professor Emeritus. He was a senior advisor to McKensey and Company, Singapore. His areas of teaching and research interests are primarily in international finance, with a focus on markets, corporate finance, treasury and corporate governance.

Kevin Hazel
Partner, Marsoft

Kevin Hazel is a Marsoft partner and joined Marsoft in 1989. Prior to joining Marsoft, Mr. Hazel was an investment analyst in the financial services industry.

Mr. Hazel has an S.B. in Management from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and an M.A. in Economics from Boston University.

His most recent assignments include: Analysis of worldwide refinery capacity and the impact on the product tanker market; Development of the steel and energy industries and their impact on the dry bulk markets; Projecting future trade developments in China and Russia (for last year’s IRM course).

 

Wee Chow Hou
Head of Marketing & International Business and Chairman of Nanyang Executive Programs, Nanyang Business School

Currently, he has over 230 publications in various international, regional and local journals and proceedings. He is a member of the editorial board of the Thunderbird International Business Review (USA), China Business Review (China) and Journal of Management (Taiwan). He is on the Board of many companies. Professor Wee is a specialist in the field of applying Chinese classics into modern business practices and strategic thinking, leadership and teamwork, strategic management and thinking, marketing overseas and brand development.

Professor Peter Lorange
BI - Norwegian School of Management

Dr. Lorange was until April 2008 President of IMD and until July 2009 the Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Professor of International Shipping at IMD.  He is presently the owner of Zurich Graduate School of Business Administration (GSBA). Dr Lorange’s special interests lie in strategy and global strategic management. He holds a DBA from Harvard University.

  Professor Tan Joo Seng
Founding Program Director, Center for Cultural Intelligence; Member of Expert Group on Global Leadership Competencies, Asian Productivity Organization

Dr Joo-Seng TAN is Associate Professor of Management at Nanyang Technological University’s Nanyang Business School in Singapore. He is one of the world’s leading practitioners on cultural intelligence as he was among the first to develop and conduct corporate training programs based on cultural intelligence. His expertise on cultural intelligence, cross-cultural leadership and management development is sought after by leading global companies.

 

Karin Thorburn
Professor of Finance, Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH)

Karin S. Thorburn is Professor of Finance, Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH). Prior to joining NHH, Professor Thorburn was associate professor of finance and associate director of the Center for Corporate Governance at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Professor Thorburn's research focuses on bankruptcy, takeovers, corporate restructuring, corporate governance, and environmental economics. Her publications deal with the efficiency of mandatory bankruptcy auctions, takeover bidding strategies, and estimation of gains to bidder firms in merger and acquisitions. Prior to her academic career, Professor Thorburn held various positions within the ABB Financial Services Group.

 

Professor Fock Siew Tong
Associate Professor and Associate Dean of External Relations, Nanyang Business School

Dr. Fock Siew Tong is the Associate Dean of External Relations. Prior to joining NBS, Dr. Fock was Managing Director and CEO of the Singapore offi ces of top New York and North American banks. He’s won many awards as an outstanding professor, and for his research on entrepreneurship and family business. Dr Fock obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Bath.

Andre Urstad
Associate Partner, Marsoft

Andre Urstad's primary focus is utilizing Marsoft’s shipping expertise in a traditional risk management framework. His responsibilities include the development of probabilistic models to capture and manage risk factors associated with complex shipping portfolios.

He is also responsible for Marsft’s core research activities on global trade and forecasts of the dry bulk shipping market, including regular market reports. He has participated in workshops and retainer meetings with a wide variety of clients worldwide, including financial institutions, shipping companies, oil companies, and trading firms.

He holds a BA single Hon. in Finance from the University of Strathclyde.

 

Professor Lim Chong Yah
Albert Winsemius Chair Professor of Economics and Director, Economic Growth Centre, Nanyang Business School

Professor Lim holds a BA and MA in Economics and Statistics from NUS and a PhD in Economics from Oxford. He is the creator and proponent of the EGOIN Theory, the Triple C Theory and the S Curve Hypothesis.

Prof Lim is more than an outstanding scholar, eminent educator and a distinguished development economist. For some years, he was the President of the Economic Society of Singapore and Federation of the ASEAN Economic Associations (FAEA). He was the founding Chairman of the National Wages Council (1972 – 2001) and the Skills Development Fund (1979 – 1982).  He received numerous International Honours and Awards (Doctor Horaris Causa, Chubu Award of Highest Glory, John W. Ryan Alumni Award, Meritorious Service Medal, Distinguished Service Order etc.) for his distinguished services to the University and society.
